This Is Legit The Best Piece of Literature I've Ever Seen ...
Our generation tends to exaggerate way more than we should. Now a days it seems that we can't have a decent conversation without exaggerating something to the slightest bit. For example, you could be explaining to someone how hot it was at practice today. Instead of just saying "It was so hot at practice today" , you say "Oh my gosh ! It was legit 3,000 degrees at practice today. I thought I was going to die." Clearly it wasn't 3,000 degrees, because if that was the case we would all be toast. You also weren't going to die, it was just another exaggeration as to how hot it was. So, my question is why do we feel the need to exaggerate so much. Why do we feel as though we can't express our feelings or thoughts without exaggeration . I wonder what conversation would be like if we didn't exaggerate to the extent that we do. We probably would die of boredom because everything will sound so "plain". See, there I go exaggerating.

I completely agree with you that exaggeration is used too much in conversations today. I myself use exaggeration when I am conversing with people. A reason why we use exaggeration in our conversations is to get our point across and make the conversation more exciting and interesting. Another reason why we over exaggerate is because of the media and celebrates. When a story breaks, the news casters use exaggeration to grab your attention. Exaggeration can be a good tool when used properly. I am going to try to work on using exaggeration less in my conversations.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great point. I feel as if exaggeration is basically a part of conversations today. Exaggeration keeps the conversation interesting and exciting. Also, we're so used to exaggeration that we already know not to take it literally.
